Privacy Policy

Stop Wasting Your Life · Effective August 3, 2026

The short version: your Screen Time data never leaves your device — that part is enforced by iOS itself, not just by promise. There are no accounts, no ads, and no tracking. The app does send anonymous usage analytics — which screens and settings you use — but never your Screen Time data.

Data collection

Stop Wasting Your Life does not collect, store on external servers, transmit, sell, or share your Screen Time data or any personal data. It has no accounts and asks for no personal information.

The only data that ever leaves your device is anonymous product analytics — engagement signals like which tab you opened or whether a setting changed, tied to a random on-device identifier rather than to you.

Screen Time data

The app uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (FamilyControls and DeviceActivity) with your explicit, one-time authorization for your own device (individual authorization — this is not a parental-control product).

Preferences stored on your device

Settings you choose in the app (such as your daily goal or excluded apps) are stored locally on your device using Apple's standard preferences system and are never uploaded anywhere.

Tips (in-app purchases)

The app offers optional one-time tips. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. The developer never receives your name, payment details, or any other personal information from a purchase.

Analytics

The app sends anonymous product analytics to PostHog, stored on their EU servers.

It records things like: which tab you opened, whether you granted Screen Time access, when you changed your daily goal, how many apps you excluded (a count only), and whether a tip purchase succeeded. Events are tied to a random identifier generated on your device — not to your name, email, Apple ID, or advertising identifier.

It never includes your Screen Time data — no durations, totals, app names, bundle identifiers, categories, or pickup counts. This is a structural guarantee rather than a policy one: all Screen Time data lives inside a sandboxed system extension that has no network access and does not contain the analytics SDK, so the part of the app that talks to the network has never seen your usage numbers.

Screen recording and automatic screen capture are disabled. There is no advertising and no cross-app or cross-site tracking, so the app does not ask for tracking permission.

Children

The app does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children. It collects no personal information at all, and the anonymous analytics described above never include your Screen Time data. It is designed for individuals to review their own device usage.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes (for example, if a future feature works differently), the updated policy will be posted at this address with a new effective date before the change ships.
